You need to have your MV and both ancillaries in draft uploaded to the blog and shared with your social networks along with a questionnaire which solicits feedback on your edit and designs.
Think clearly about the questions you needs and ensure that you get the maximum you can from your feedback.
WWW
This has great energy and rhythm. You have a variety of shots, found a suitable pace for the edit and the narrative, while not totally clear is nevertheless effective and linked closely with the lyrics.
The camerawork is dynamic but suffers from poor lighting at times, one of the risks of shooting in dark places.
Performances help give this a sense of reality and there is a definite scale of production here.
EBI
The lip-syncing is not as good as it needs to be to secure the top marks - this is the major are of development.
Clarity of narrative - some work still to do to make this completely effective.
The use of Mike Tyson on back-projection is an area I am concerned about while it is clearly justified by the lyrics and there is no way you could get this footage another way. I think it should be okay as it is very limited and you use it behind your own shot so it is texture and mise en scene rather than the main event.
Careful use of editing - the multiple image and other techniques need to be thought about as part of an overall plan. I think they work but I am not convinced that they are yet more than tricks you have thrown in.
The edit needs to be complete.
Digipak and Advert
No evidence of advert - MUST BE COMPLETED ASAP
WWW
Digipak follows the form well with some well chosen images
Artist is featured well and sense of representation is clear
Link to MV is clear
EBI
Formatting shows this a a draft only
use of fonts and colours inaccurate
image manipulation needs work - some are pinched
images MUST be photographic NOT SCREEN GRABS to secure higher marks
use of standard conventions for digipaks based on research is vital
NO EVIDENCE OF A SURVEY FOR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
NB. evidence of research into ancillaries is virtually absent and this MUST be addressed ASAP.
for lighting we will reshoot the night scenes with more artificial lightning, additionally with lip syncing which is out of place, will be reshot, this will be incorporated in our second draft, survey has recently been completed along with research on our freshly created feedback page
ReplyDelete-To deal with lighting we have to designate time in which we either choose to reshoot scenes where the lighting is poor or allocate time to re edit the scenes using final cut pro.
ReplyDelete-Regarding lip syncing sequences we can identify the timing of the lyrics of clifford lips through additional editing processes as it requires a small movement in the frame. We can also reshoot the chorus aspect of the video if needs be.
-Clarity of the narrative can be addressed be re shifting and re placement of shots and scenes.
-The multiple screen was just a experimental technique and can be taken out as first draft.
-All preliminary and post production will be completed first on my own individual blog and then uploaded onto group blog.
Gabriel. You continue to produce good work and the revised Digipak looks to be a significant step forward. I am concerned that you have not yet completed all products and that this may hinder your completion of the evaluations by the deadline.
ReplyDeleteClifford. Your clear involvement in the MV as performer and collaborator is obvious and your efforts with the digipak are recognised but I am not completely convinced that you are always using your time as effectively as you might and this could mean that you will under achieve your potential. Pleas ensure that you are up to date and as applied as you need to be to secure the B grade which you should be aiming for.

ReplyDeleteGeneral Notes
This is not yet well organised. You have many of the materials to create a level 4 blog with tight well structured work but it is currently patchy and chaotic. Needs to be fixed. Also a big imbalance in contributions. Gabriel you have a lot more posted and are on track to achieve an appropriate level. Clifford you have insufficient to secure the level you need to maintain your grade.
Home
Research
Looks to be quite strong Gabriel. Extensive and detailed and making links from your research to your project.
Clifford, also convincing though less clearly linking to your products.
BUT tagging is not as clear as it might be - dark blue on grey doesn’t show up well Clifford.
Level 3/4
Pre-production (planning)
Looks reasonably extensive and covers most areas.
Gabriel - level 3/4
Clifford - nothing submitted level 1
Production
Your MV should be here with earlier drafts and some commentary on the changes you have made and your rationale.
Ancillaries
Digipak only shown - needs to show development more clearly and put the final version at the top of the page.
Level 4 - for Gabriel’s finished version
Level 2 - for Clifford’s version
No advert?
Evaluations
Q1 x 2 - well done in getting both uploaded.
Feedback page
Would be better to use a different page for this - perhaps incorporate it into your Production page or research page under a different heading Audience Feedback.
Also make sure that your Production page has ALL versions of your edit with the commentary
Version of edit on page - Level 3 (NOT YOUR FINAL VERSION)
In the short term, can I ask you to remove the MV from the blog (and Youtube) as we need to look at the 'n-word' issue again and probably edit the track with bleeps or replace with the word 'brother' or something similar. This is a compliance issue which won't affect your grade but does need to be dealt with.
